Tysons Glen Property Manager Goes to "Slammer!"
Don't worry, it was all for a good cause! As a part of their fund-raising campaign, the Muscular Dystrophy Association hauls local business people off to "jail" in a paddy wagon. The hoodlums are then fingerprinted (and treated to lunch). In order to "bail" them out, friends and co-workers collect money which is then, in turn, donated to the charity.
On August 21st Tysons Glen Property Manager, Sara Meador,
was "locked up" along with other Falls Church business people. Residents,
employees and contractors of Tysons Glen gathered together to donate $1,700
to help bail Sara out of the MDA jail - that is enough money to send three of Jerry's kids to camp! The city of Falls Church as a whole, in its best MD fund raiser to date, raised a whopping $37,000!
The kids will go to a week-long camp where anyone not in a wheelchair is the oddity. Camp Maria is near Leonard Town, MD and sits in an inlet of the Chesapeake Bay. Every year the theme of the camp changes - this year's theme is "Fish." They have horseback riding, fishing, swimming, games and boating - pretty much what any camp would have, but is set up especially for kids with disabilities. "It is a very rewarding time to see so much good going on in these camps and to be a part of it," Sara told us.
Wow! Great job - and a heartfelt thank you to Sara and all of those who supported her and the MDA!
